Take Boulevard Wheat, improvise with some pineapple and coconut flavors and throw down some Tech N9ne and you’ve got a new collaboration from two of Kansas City’s favorite sons.
Downtown-based Boulevard Brewing and Strange Music announced this week the new “Bou Lou” collaboration will debut at this summer’s Boulevardia festival in the Stockyards District of the West Bottoms. The new brew is named after a popular Tech N9ne tune.
“This is an alliance that had to happen,” Boulevard president Jeff Krum said in a statement. “Working with Tech and the Strange Music team has been a real privilege.
“Their creativity, attention to detail and commitment to excellence made it clear to all of us why they’ve achieved such remarkable and sustained success.”
Boulevard and Tech N9ne have deep Kansas City roots, according to a release announcing the collaboration.
Boulevard started operations on Southwest Boulevard in 1989 and two years later, Tech N9ne began his musical career. Both have grown over the years to become global brands.
“Being from Kansas City, the Boulevard Brewing name has always been held in high regard,” Strange Music CEO/president Travis O’Guin said in a statement.
“We both strive to create products that place us in the upper echelon of our respective industries, so to be able to collaborate with the Boulevard team on such a unique project is an honor.”
The limited release beer will be available at Boulevardia, to be held June 15 and 16. Tech N9ne will top the bill at the urban street party on Friday night.
Bou Lou, packaged in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans, will hit shelves starting June 18 in select markets including Kansas City, Lawrence, Wichita, Springfield and Denver.
