To the casual shopper, MaRKET ASSEMBLY appears to be a typical upscale boutique geared toward women looking for unique clothes, home decor and other items.
But there’s a lot more going on behind the shop at 110 Southwest Boulevard in the Crossroads. Literally.
The products being sold are where the branding and marketing ideas of Studio Floc5, the design firm located in in the back room, meet the marketplace.
“We help people take their ideas for designing a product and help them launch the brand” said founder Sarah Beshears.
“The shop is a vessel for businesses large and small to grow their business.”
Beshears was working as a graphic designer when she started Floc5 about 10 years ago. It did design and branding work for a variety of clients including architects, developers, and health and wellness firms.
“A light bulb went off one day,” she said. “I was so obsessed with clients I thought, why not create our own shelves and let the shop be a playground for makers who want to grow?”
So she launched MaRKET ASSEMBLY to be a sort of brand incubator space. The items sold there are the fruits of the collaboration between people who come in with their product ideas and the design work of Floc5.
“The space is a women’s lifestyle store,” Beshears said. “A lot of the brands we carry are locally and sustainably made.”
All of the products are designed by women. They include clothing, home decor, apothecary items, essential oils, artisan candles and a small collection of vintage items. Beshears said online shopping is a big part of her business.
Hours are Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. The shop is open until 8 p.m. on First Fridays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on First Saturdays.
