Two former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleaders are opening a dance and fitness studio in the Crossroads Arts District next month designed to appeal to an adult clientele.

“For a long period of time, Lauren and I have been in the health care technology industry,” said Kerri Pomerenke, co-founder with Lauren Boyd of Dance Fit Flow.

“Our exercise of choice has been dancing. We felt there was no place to go where we belonged, someone who previously trained in dance…we wanted a boutique fitness environment for dance.”

On Sept. 25th, the two women will realize their vision with the opening of Dance Fit Flow at 1701 Locust St. in the Crossroads Arts District. It will feature not only a variety of dance classes, but classes in yoga, Pilates, PiYo TM and Turbo Kick TM as well.

Dance Fit Flow will be located in the Crossroads at 1701 Locust St.

Pomerenke grew up dancing in Blue Springs competing in solo and group competitions. She later was on the nationally-ranked “Sugar Bears” dance team at Missouri State University. After graduation she was a Chiefs cheerleader for four years.

That’s where she met her future partner, Lauren.

They describe Dance Fit Flow as a “haven for dancers returning from a two-week break or a two-decade hiatus as well as those looking for a new type of workout.” Dance classes will include jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, hip-hop and cardio.

“Whether it’s someone’s first class or 100th, every person who walks through Dance Fit Flow doors is a member of our community,” Boyd said in a statement. “It’s supportive, it’s sweaty and it makes working out fun again.”

A six-month package of unlimited lessons costs $315, a three-month package costs $160. Drop-in classes cost $17 each.

A grand opening party is planned for First Friday, Oct. 6.
